y.O Zmart Chair Chair is an innovative convertible furniture design that exemplifies the fusion of form and function in contemporary furniture design. Created by architect Rick Yestadt, this revolutionary seating solution draws inspiration from iconic 20th-century designs such as the Wassily Chair and Corbusier's Sling chair while introducing a unique transformative capability. The chair's distinguishing feature lies in its ability to seamlessly transition between a reclining position and an upright dining position through a single fluid motion, achieved solely through precise geometric proportions and gravitational principles, without the need for additional mechanical components or hardware. Constructed from CNC-cut flat Richlite panels, a sustainable material composed of phenolic resin and recycled paper, the chair demonstrates a commitment to environmental responsibility while maintaining structural integrity. The design incorporates stainless steel sleeve and axel components on each side, facilitating the smooth rotational movement that defines its dual functionality.
