Y House Private Residence

Y House Private Residence

Y House Private Residence is an exemplary architectural project that masterfully reimagines the traditional village house typology through contemporary design principles. Located in Samokov, Bulgaria, this double-story rectangular structure, completed in 2018, stands as a testament to thoughtful architectural composition and material harmony. The residence, encompassing 260 square meters across two main floors plus an attic and basement, is distinguished by its striking gable roof and strategic positioning as a freestanding element within a grassy courtyard. The design philosophy demonstrates a sophisticated approach to the integration of indoor and outdoor spaces, achieved through careful material transitions and architectural elements. The lower level features robust stone cladding that establishes a strong connection with the site, while the slightly recessed second floor is adorned with wood planking, creating a deliberate visual layering effect. Notable architectural elements include meticulously planned windows, doors, and loggias that punctuate the geometric form, contributing to the building's distinctive character. The project's excellence in architectural design was recognized with a Bronze A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building and Structure Design category in 2019, acknowledging its innovative interpretation of residential architecture. The design successfully balances aesthetic considerations with functional requirements, incorporating sustainable features and demonstrating exceptional attention to spatial organization and material selection. The blurred boundary between interior and exterior spaces creates a harmonious living environment that responds sensitively to its context while maintaining a contemporary architectural expression.
