Xtension Multifunctional Light

Xtension Multifunctional Light

Xtension Multifunctional light is an innovative and versatile lighting solution that revolutionizes the concept of adjustable illumination in interior spaces. Designed by Italian architect Andrea Cingoli, this groundbreaking fixture represents a significant advancement in lighting design through its unique ability to extend from 1500mm to 3000mm while maintaining full adjustability in all its forms. The design, which earned a Golden A' Design Award in the Lighting Products and Fixtures Design category, features a sophisticated construction of aluminum and steel with either brushed or polished finish, incorporating three extension rails that enable its remarkable adaptability. The lighting system integrates both external LED strips and an internal LED bar, all of which are programmable and dimmable through Bluetooth connectivity. Its spherical latch points enable secure fastening to uneven surfaces, while its programmable LED system allows it to function beyond mere illumination, serving as a communication tool in clustered installations to indicate room occupancy or directional guidance. The inspiration for this innovative design emerged from architectural stabilization techniques observed during post-earthquake reconstruction efforts in L'Aquila, Italy, transforming a practical engineering solution into an elegant lighting fixture. The design's intelligence is embedded in its conceptual and constructive essence, prioritizing intuitive user interaction over technological complexity. When utilized in commercial or residential settings, the fixture can serve multiple functions - from ceiling light to floor lamp, room divider, or art installation - while its smart features allow for comprehensive control of visual comfort, color, and dynamic lighting effects through a mobile application.
