Created by art director Nan Zhou and designer Shubin Zhang, this sophisticated calendar notebook, measuring 160x215mm with a thickness of 12mm, masterfully incorporates traditional Chinese ink techniques and calligraphy to create a distinctive visual narrative. The design's most striking feature is its sophisticated use of Chinese dye ink technique, which produces delicate hieroglyphs that evoke a contemplative yin-yang aesthetic, creating an ethereal interplay between presence and absence. The cover features an embossed rooster motif, symbolically representing the Chinese zodiac year while paying homage to the designer's childhood artistic inspiration. This thoughtfully crafted publication integrates practical elements including the twenty-four solar terms, significant environmental protection dates, and volunteer action records, making it both functionally valuable and aesthetically compelling. The project, completed between November and December 2016 for implementation in 2017, demonstrates exceptional attention to detail in its execution, particularly in its sophisticated use of traditional materials and techniques. The design's cultural significance and innovative approach to environmental communication earned it the Bronze A' Design Award in the Print and Published Media Design category, recognizing its outstanding contribution to the field of publication design and its ability to bridge traditional artistic practices with contemporary environmental advocacy.
