Wood Stick Sofa Wooden Cushion Sofa

Wood Stick Sofa Wooden Cushion Sofa is an innovative furniture design that revolutionizes traditional seating concepts by integrating the warmth of wooden materials with the comfort of cushioning through a groundbreaking 'Stick Cushion' method. Created by designer Jeong Kyu Park, this distinctive piece represents a significant advancement in furniture design, featuring 116 precisely engineered wooden sticks that provide customizable support and comfort. The sofa's construction employs Hard Maple from North America, selected for its optimal combination of elasticity and durability, with 58 sticks each in the seat and backrest positioned at uniform intervals to create a naturally ventilated, responsive seating surface. This innovative approach eliminates common drawbacks associated with traditional wooden benches and upholstered sofas, such as discomfort from hardness and stuffiness from conventional cushioning. Measuring 2140mm in width, 1200mm in height, and 900mm in depth, the sofa weighs a remarkably light 25kg despite its substantial size. The design, which earned a Bronze A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category, exemplifies sustainable design principles through its use of recyclable materials and replaceable components. Its ingenious construction allows each wooden stick to bend independently, distributing weight and adapting to various body shapes while maintaining structural integrity through carefully calculated bracing systems. This innovative approach to furniture design demonstrates how traditional materials can be reimagined to create contemporary solutions that enhance both comfort and functionality while maintaining environmental consciousness.
