Wine And Chess Case

Wine And Chess Case

Wine and Chess Case is an innovative luxury packaging design that seamlessly integrates wine storage functionality with a sophisticated chess gaming experience. This multifunctional case, designed by Andrei Filatov, represents a significant advancement in sustainable luxury packaging, featuring a dual-purpose design that transforms from a wine carrier into an elegant chess set. The case accommodates six wine bottles in specially designed protective niches while incorporating a built-in chessboard revealed when the cover is inverted. Crafted with premium materials including gray wooden MDF Valchromat for the structure, natural oak veneer with satin varnish for the chessboard, and distinguished by red goatskin leather covering on its external faces, the design exemplifies meticulous attention to detail and craftsmanship. The chessboard features alternating red and cream squares, complemented by weighted chess pieces in matching colors, ensuring optimal playability. Measuring 42 cm x 13 cm x 42 cm and weighing 5.6 kg when empty (13.7 kg when filled), the case demonstrates thoughtful ergonomic considerations. This innovative design, which earned recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Packaging Design category, addresses the contemporary need for sustainable luxury packaging by creating a second life for what would typically be disposable packaging, transforming it into a permanent, functional art piece that combines the sophistication of wine appreciation with the timeless appeal of chess.
