Wild Restaurant and Bar is an innovative architectural transformation project that reimagines a traditional restaurant space into a dual-function establishment, exemplifying contemporary interior design excellence through its distinct conceptual approach. The design, which garnered a Silver A' Design Award in Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, masterfully divides a 235-square-meter space into two independently operated yet visually connected zones: a nature-inspired restaurant (90 square meters) and a futuristic whiskey bar (118 square meters). The restaurant section evokes a camping atmosphere, incorporating authentic outdoor materials such as Oxford cloth canopies and natural elements, while the bar area presents a science fiction-inspired interpretation of humanity's future dwelling spaces. The project's technical achievements include custom-designed oversized canopy installations and an innovative curved structural element that encompasses a luminous Earth model, crafted using transparent acrylic and specially printed soft film. The space utilizes a sophisticated material palette including terrazzo flooring and natural rock wall cladding, while strategic mirror placement creates multiple reflections of the Earth model, enhancing the spatial experience. Designed by Pengfei Ni in collaboration with Xiao Hu and Weikang Hou, this 2020 project demonstrates exceptional space optimization by transforming an underutilized single-function venue into a dynamic day-and-night destination, with the restaurant operating during daylight hours and the bar activating the space after dark. The design's conceptual foundation draws inspiration from Stephen Hawking's theories about human survival and space colonization, creating a narrative that spans present-day Earth and a speculative future scenario.
