White Light Residence
White Light Residence is an award-winning residential interior design project completed in 2017 in Taipei City, Taiwan, exemplifying a harmonious blend of minimalist aesthetics and functional sophistication. The 142-square-meter space, designed by Rachelle Chen, masterfully employs a black-and-white color scheme to create striking visual contrasts throughout the interior, where expansive white spaces are elegantly framed by black elements integrated within large glass panels. The design philosophy centers on achieving a perfect balance between spatial ratios and practicality, resulting in a configuration that embodies both generosity and elegance. A distinctive feature of the residence is its L-shaped book wall, which extends from the living room to the dining area, serving both as a functional storage solution and as a testament to the client's literary interests. The private spaces, including bedrooms, are thoughtfully decorated in beige and light brown tones, with the master bedroom featuring tawny leather wall covering to create a comforting atmosphere. The interior's clean, white aesthetic is complemented by functional-oriented storage solutions that maintain the space's clutter-free environment while maximizing capacity. The design demonstrates exceptional attention to detail in its spatial organization, with careful consideration given to the flow between different areas and the integration of practical elements that enhance daily living. This sophisticated residential project, which won an Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, showcases how thoughtful interior design can create spaces that are both visually striking and deeply functional, allowing residents to experience the humanity value within different spatial dimensions while maintaining a strong sense of aesthetic beauty.
