White Folded Lines Residence

White Folded Lines Residence is an award-winning architectural interior design project completed in November 2022 in Taichung City, Taiwan, distinguished by its innovative approach to minimalist design and masterful manipulation of natural light. Located on the 21st floor of a residential building, this 205-square-meter apartment exemplifies sophisticated spatial planning through its distinctive concept of folded surfaces that create dynamic linear elements throughout the interior. The design, conceived by Yu-Fong Chang, employs a dual folding strategy: the first involves architectural elements that capture and manipulate daylight, creating varied patterns of light and shadow, while the second implements functional folding lines arranged in a staggered configuration to enhance spatial utility. The residence features a thoughtfully organized layout comprising three bedrooms, a living room, dining area, and three bathrooms, all unified by a predominantly white color scheme executed through diverse material textures including eco-friendly latex paint, oak wood veneer, marble, and systematic cabinetry. The project's sophisticated response to architectural challenges, such as managing irregular structural elements and optimizing natural light control, demonstrates exceptional problem-solving in residential design. The open-plan configuration of public spaces caters to the needs of a family of four, while the careful integration of storage solutions maintains the interior's clean, uncluttered aesthetic. This project, recognized with an Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, represents a significant achievement in contemporary residential design, particularly for its successful synthesis of aesthetic refinement and practical functionality. The design's progressive approach creates a pure, serene atmosphere that harmoniously balances minimalist principles with livable comfort, effectively transforming a standard apartment into a sophisticated living environment that maximizes both natural light and spatial efficiency.
