Weave Curio Shelf Curio Shelf

Weave Curio Shelf Curio Shelf is an innovative furniture design that masterfully integrates traditional weaving patterns into contemporary furniture aesthetics, created by designer Jo Zhu. This sophisticated piece, which earned the prestigious Golden A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category, exemplifies a harmonious fusion of form and function through its distinctive warp and weft structure. The design features an intricate arrangement of leather strips woven through vertical pillars, complemented by wooden slabs joined using traditional mortise-tenon techniques. Standing at 1800mm in height, 1830mm in width, and 300mm in depth, the shelf is crafted from premium South American rosewood, genuine cattle hide, and copper elements. The design's most notable characteristic is its visual permeability, allowing it to serve dual purposes as both a display shelf and a space divider without creating harsh visual barriers. The sophisticated construction process involves specially treated wooden materials to prevent thermal expansion and contraction, while the leather components are double-soled and hand-stitched using traditional leatherworking techniques. This versatile piece accommodates various items including china, metalware, painting supplies, and decorative objects, making it suitable for diverse settings such as dining rooms, tearooms, or creative studios. The beveled corners of the wooden slabs contribute to the overall lightweight appearance, while the natural brown tones of leather and wood imbue the piece with authenticity and organic appeal, exemplifying excellence in contemporary furniture design through its innovative interpretation of traditional weaving patterns.
