Wavy Tea set is an innovative ceramic tea service design that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of natural inspiration and functional ergonomics. Created by Patricia Sheung Ying Wong, this distinguished design draws its aesthetic inspiration from the naturally-formed layers of travertine terraces observed at Yellowstone National Park, translating these organic formations into a sophisticated drinking vessel collection. The set's most notable feature is its innovative handle design, which has been meticulously developed through extensive user testing to ensure optimal comfort and grip for various hand sizes. The forms unfold like water lilies, creating a contemplative drinking experience that encourages mindful interaction with the vessels. Utilizing slip-casting techniques in its production, the design achieves a balance between aesthetic sophistication and manufacturing efficiency, with no mold exceeding four parts in its construction. The set's development, which took place between October 2011 and January 2012 in Providence, Rhode Island, demonstrates a careful consideration of both form and function, resulting in a design that received the prestigious Golden A' Design Award in the Bakeware, Tableware, Drinkware and Cookware Design category.
