Waterfront Lilac Club Club is an exemplary architectural and interior design project that masterfully integrates Oriental design philosophy with contemporary spatial aesthetics. Located in Shenyang, China, this 2,000-square-meter multipurpose facility serves as both a sales center and community hub, distinguished by its innovative reinterpretation of traditional Chinese architectural elements. The design, created by Yi Chen and Muchen Zhang, demonstrates exceptional cultural synthesis through its deconstruction and creative reimagining of the traditional Chinese bracket system (Dou Gong), establishing a harmonious dialogue between Eastern philosophical principles and modern functionality. The space is characterized by its sophisticated use of natural materials, particularly cedarwood, and features a striking central void adorned with abstract white lilac motifs, creating a powerful visual narrative that pays homage to Chinese landscape painting theories. The project's architectural language employs principles of splashing, panorama, and livable landscape, while carefully balancing Eastern and Western design elements through thoughtful material selection and spatial organization. Notable features include wooden truss elaborations that create unified model elements throughout the space, contributing to a rhythm that alternates between ground and placid, towering and extensive arrangements. The facility encompasses multiple functional zones, including showrooms, reception areas, sales halls, and multi-purpose offices, all unified by a cohesive design philosophy that emphasizes spiritual and aesthetic harmony. This exceptional work was recognized with the Platinum A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, acknowledging its outstanding contribution to contemporary design while preserving cultural heritage.
