Water Wave Table

Water Wave Table

Water Wave Table is an innovative furniture design that embodies Eastern philosophical principles through its distinctive aesthetic and functional elements. Created by Korean designer Noh Yong-won, this contemporary tea table represents the dynamic interplay of yin and yang through its fluid, wave-inspired form. The design features a rectangular tempered glass top supported by an intricately crafted steel structure, where each element seamlessly flows downward from the flat surface, creating an elegant visual harmony. Measuring 1400 mm x 500 mm x 450 mm, the table's construction showcases exceptional craftsmanship through hand-bent steel flat bars that are meticulously welded together and finished with a precise spray coating. The table's design philosophy draws profound inspiration from water's natural characteristics - its ability to be both calm and dynamic, reflecting the Eastern worldview of perpetual circulation and balance. This sophisticated piece, suitable for living rooms and lobby spaces, demonstrates remarkable technical achievement in maintaining structural integrity while presenting asymmetrical elements that required careful consideration of center of gravity and balance. The design earned recognition at the A' Design Award competition, receiving the Iron A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category, acknowledging its innovative approach to combining traditional Eastern philosophy with contemporary furniture design. The table's distinctive feature lies in its ability to minimize visual interference while maintaining functional stability, achieved through smooth transitions between surfaces and carefully considered proportions that create an impression of floating elements.
