Wall Of Knowledge Middle School

Wall of Knowledge Middle School is an innovative educational architecture project located in El Jadida, Morocco, approximately 100 kilometers southwest of Casablanca, designed by architects Tarik Zoubdi and Mounir Benchekroun. This monumental educational facility, completed in 2017, encompasses a total built area of 8,960 square meters across four levels, reaching a maximum height of 15.50 meters, and accommodates over 570 students annually. The architectural design demonstrates a profound understanding of cultural heritage while incorporating modern educational needs, featuring a distinctive exterior adorned with local stones that pays homage to El Jadida's Portuguese architectural legacy. The building's most striking feature is its metallic Moucharabieh skin, decorated with a universal alphabet pattern that serves both practical and symbolic purposes - providing solar protection and privacy while representing educational inclusivity and cultural tolerance. The structure employs a sophisticated combination of materials including COR-TEN steel, local stone, wood acoustic panels, and resin flooring, all integrated within a reinforced concrete framework. The spatial organization cleverly resolves the challenges presented by an irregular plot through a three-zone distribution, while the compact design minimizes student travel distances and optimizes space utilization. The project, which won the Golden A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building and Structure Design category, exemplifies excellence in educational architecture through its innovative approach to accessibility, sustainability, and pedagogical functionality. The design incorporates comprehensive signage systems, display and sound tools, and ensures complete accessibility for persons with reduced mobility, while the central courtyard serves as a vital connecting hub surrounded by passageways and walkways that facilitate fluid movement throughout the facility.
