VRH12 Vinyl Record Holder

VRH12 Vinyl Record Holder

VRH12 Vinyl Record Holder is an innovative furniture design piece that exemplifies minimalist industrial aesthetics and functional efficiency in vinyl record storage solutions. Created by designers Povilas and Vaidotas Jurevicius in London between 2016 and 2017, this sophisticated storage solution is crafted from a single piece of 4mm mild steel, demonstrating exceptional material engineering and structural integrity. The design, which earned a Silver A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category, features precise dimensions of 52cm in length, 33cm in height, and 33cm in depth, with a substantial weight of 6kg that ensures stability while housing valuable vinyl collections. The development process involved extensive material experimentation, progressing through timber, acrylic, and aluminum prototypes before determining that mild steel provided optimal weight distribution and structural balance. This methodical approach to material selection reflects the designers' commitment to achieving both aesthetic refinement and practical functionality. The holder's raw, industrial aesthetic is enhanced by fine crafted edging details and professional paint finishing, making it not only a storage solution but also a striking display piece that harmoniously integrates with contemporary interior spaces. The design philosophy behind the VRH12 draws inspiration from Soviet Union brutalism combined with Western industrialism, resulting in a piece that embodies both architectural sophistication and practical utility, while maintaining an unwavering focus on sustainable design principles and efficient resource utilization.
