Vincennes Manufactory
Vincennes Manufactory was a French porcelain manufacturer that was established in 1740. It was founded by a group of investors who were led by the French financier, Orry de Fulvy. The manufactory was located in the town of Vincennes, which is now a suburb of Paris. The company was known for producing high-quality porcelain pieces that were decorated with intricate designs and vibrant colors. The pieces were so highly regarded that the manufactory was invited to contribute to the Royal Palace of Versailles and other prestigious projects. Vincennes Manufactory was known for its exceptional skill in creating delicate and intricate designs. The artisans who worked for the company were highly trained and skilled in the art of porcelain making. They used a combination of traditional techniques and innovative methods to create their pieces. The porcelain was made from a mixture of kaolin, feldspar, and quartz, which was then fired at high temperatures to create a hard, durable material. The pieces were then decorated with a variety of techniques, including painting, gilding, and relief work. One of the most famous pieces produced by Vincennes Manufactory was the Sèvres Vase. This vase was created in 1757 and was decorated with a scene depicting the goddess Diana and her nymphs. The vase was made for Louis XV and was later given to Marie Antoinette. Another famous piece was the Grand Service Perruches, which was a set of porcelain dishes decorated with images of parrots. This set was made for Louis XV and was later used by Napoleon Bonaparte. In 1756, Vincennes Manufactory was purchased by the French crown and was renamed the Royal Porcelain Factory. The manufactory continued to produce high-quality porcelain pieces for the French court and other clients. In 1760, the manufactory moved to a new location in Sèvres, where it is still located today.
