Village House At Clear Water Bay Garden Residential Unit
Village House at Clear Water Bay Garden Residential Unit is an exemplary residential design project situated in the serene suburbs of Hong Kong, distinguished by its innovative approach to harmonizing interior and exterior living spaces. The ground floor unit, spanning 700 square feet, is complemented by a spacious 1,200-square-foot terrace that offers glimpses of the South China Sea, creating a unique dialogue between built environment and natural surroundings. The design's primary objective focuses on establishing a stronger coherency between the interior unit and the exterior terrace, effectively embracing the essence of rural living despite the spatial constraints of a limited opening connecting these two areas. The project, which earned a Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, showcases a sophisticated arrangement of sensory elements including a carved stone tea table, water features, and a thoughtfully designed deck structure. The arrival sequence is carefully choreographed, featuring a carved stone positioned at the vanishing point that serves both aesthetic and functional purposes, while a bare concrete wall extends horizontally to create an enhanced visual perspective from the timber deck. The design incorporates reflective water surfaces that mirror surrounding greenery and produce soothing sounds, while a covered deck serves as a transitional space for meditation and social gatherings. The careful positioning of the deck creates an architectural aperture with the entrance portal, extending sightlines through to the kitchen area and establishing a seamless flow between spaces. This residential project exemplifies how thoughtful architectural intervention can transform spatial limitations into opportunities for creating meaningful connections between interior comfort and natural surroundings.
