Villa Sochi Residential House is an architecturally distinctive residential structure located in the mountainous region near Sochi, designed by Alexandra Fedorova and completed in 2015. This remarkable dwelling, which earned the Silver A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design category, exemplifies a harmonious integration of modern architectural principles with its natural surroundings. The design concept draws inspiration from the Mobius strip, manifesting as a white architectural ribbon that appears to float against its mountainous backdrop. The structure spans 600 square meters across three levels, featuring a hollow basement volume and two upper floors characterized by extensive glazing that maximizes natural light and panoramic views. The architectural composition demonstrates exceptional engineering prowess, particularly in its response to the region's high seismicity, incorporating a monolithic reinforced concrete frame with foam block infill and an impressive 8-meter cantilever. The villa's spatial organization places public areas on the ground floor, with a flowing layout that connects the kitchen, dining room, and living spaces, all opening to a terrace with a pool. The exterior is finished with a combination of granite and plaster, while the interior spaces showcase panoramic glazing that frames views of the surrounding nature reserve and distant sea. The project's most notable achievement lies in its successful resolution of complex structural challenges while maintaining an ethereal aesthetic that earned it the local nickname flying saucer.
