The two-story holiday residence, completed in 2014, features a dramatic swerved upper floor with substantial cantilevered spaces that create sheltered outdoor areas while optimizing views toward the Mediterranean Sea. The architectural composition demonstrates remarkable spatial efficiency through its perpendicular positioning of the first floor relative to the ground level, facilitating seamless indoor-outdoor connections and creating functional exterior spaces including a covered entrance and terraces. The design pays homage to the regional character of Istria through its material palette, incorporating corten steel, aluminum, wood, and glass to achieve both aesthetic sophistication and practical durability. The structure's innovative features include a ventilated facade system utilizing corten panels on the ground floor and aluminum panels on the upper level, while wooden flooring throughout both interior and exterior spaces maintains material continuity. The residence, which earned a Silver A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design category, demonstrates exceptional versatility in its ability to transform from an enclosed volume to an open-plan configuration that merges interior and exterior spaces during warmer months.
