Villa Antioquia House

Villa Antioquia House

Villa Antioquia House is a distinguished contemporary Caribbean residential masterpiece located in Cap Cana, Punta Cana, exemplifying innovative architectural design through its seamless integration of interior and exterior spaces. This 1,130-square-meter private residence, situated on a 2,630-square-meter lot, showcases a harmonious blend of native materials and modern design elements, featuring natural carved stones, wood coverings, and large-format marble tiles that create a sophisticated tropical aesthetic. The structure's most striking feature is its extensive cantilever facade, which serves as both an architectural statement and a functional entrance threshold. The design demonstrates exceptional attention to environmental considerations, incorporating strategic skylights and natural ventilation systems that optimize the tropical climate while providing continuous vertical natural light throughout the interior spaces. Notable technical innovations include custom-molded columns with corrugated appearances that create dynamic shadow patterns throughout the day, contributing to the building's architectural honesty and aesthetic appeal. The project, which earned recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building and Structure Design category in 2021, successfully overcame complex regulatory challenges by implementing an innovative lightweight sloping roof design that maintains visual elegance while meeting local building requirements. The interior spaces were meticulously crafted to achieve physical and visual permeability with the exterior environment, reflecting a contemporary interpretation of Caribbean architectural style that diverges from conventional approaches while maintaining functionality for its four-member family inhabitants.
