Created by Brazilian architect and designer Flávio Franco, this contemporary sideboard masterfully combines straight lines and slim profiles to achieve a sense of visual lightness despite its substantial volume. The piece's distinctive form emerges from the careful intersection of precise planes and sophisticated joinery techniques, measuring 2250mm in length, 600mm in depth, and 750mm in height. Crafted entirely from reforested Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF), specifically utilizing remnant materials from other design productions, the sideboard demonstrates a commitment to environmental responsibility while maintaining high aesthetic standards. The design's structural integrity is achieved through advanced carpentry techniques, including precise clipping and fitting methods, complemented by a matte varnish finish that enhances its refined appearance. The sideboard's unique cantilevered design, which appears to defy gravity, required extensive research to determine optimal counterweight calculations and structural balance, resulting in a self-sustaining form that eliminates the need for lateral support.
