Vary Light Object

Vary Light Object is an innovative lighting fixture that exemplifies the intersection of artistic expression and functional design, created by German designer Florian Freihöfer. This sophisticated luminaire demonstrates a remarkable geometric transformation from angular to round forms, serving as a metaphor for life's continuous evolution and change. The design, which won the prestigious Golden A' Design Award in the Lighting Products and Fixtures Design category, features a handblown fluorescent light tube powered by a high-voltage neon source with a color temperature of 4000 kelvin. Measuring 320mm x 320mm x 800mm, the fixture creates an optical illusion where a single continuous line forms what appears to be two distinct three-dimensional objects, depending on the viewer's perspective. The design incorporates traditional glassblowing craftsmanship with contemporary minimalist aesthetics, featuring a satined standard aluminum tube connection between the cables and glass tube, with the high voltage power supply discreetly integrated into the floor unit. This innovative lighting solution emerged from extensive research into interstitial spaces and their interaction with light, challenging conventional perspectives on spatial design. The luminaire's transformative nature encourages observers to explore different viewpoints, as its appearance shifts dramatically when viewed from various angles, making it not just a light source but an interactive art piece that illuminates the philosophical concept of perpetual change in our daily lives.
