Vapour, Gurgaon Restaurant is an innovative hospitality design project that revolutionizes the traditional dining experience by incorporating a unique stock exchange concept into its architectural and operational framework. Spread across 900 square meters on two levels, this distinctive establishment features a striking double-height space that creates an expansive, non-imposing atmosphere while maintaining intimate visual connections throughout. The design, which earned a Bronze A' Design Award in the Hospitality, Recreation, Travel and Tourism Design category in 2018, masterfully integrates minimalist aesthetics with functional sophistication. The interior architecture employs natural materials in their authentic finishes, including fly ash brick walls sealed with lacquer for hygiene, vitrified tile flooring, and exposed concrete ceilings with graphic board elements. A signature long bar counter equipped with price screens serves as the central visual focal point, visible from all areas, embodying the establishment's unique bidding-war concept for beverages. The spatial organization is thoughtfully crafted, with the main entrance leading directly into the double-height area, while dining spaces are strategically positioned under normal-height sections to create more intimate dining environments. Two separate staircases, originating from a common point, create an intriguing circulation pattern that adds to the dynamic spatial experience. The design, completed in April 2017, demonstrates exceptional attention to volume management, material selection, and spatial planning, successfully creating an environment that encourages social interaction while maintaining operational efficiency. The project's inspiration drawn from 1980s stock exchanges is reflected in its informal, communal atmosphere, where the architectural elements support both the functional requirements of a modern restaurant and the social dynamics of a public gathering space.
