Vanke Fengxi Linquan Residential Area

Vanke Fengxi Linquan Residential Area is an innovative ecological residential complex located in Qingdao, China, that revolutionizes urban living through its groundbreaking architectural design and environmental considerations. Completed in 2019, this architectural masterpiece seamlessly integrates advanced technological solutions with ecological principles to create an unprecedented living experience. The development features a distinctive winding planning form that pays homage to the regional characteristics of Laoshan Mountain, while incorporating pioneering solutions such as the nano thermal blanket and eggshell thermal insulation system to ensure year-round plant survival in challenging climatic conditions. The residential complex implements a unique spatial arrangement where each floor accommodates two spacious households of approximately 200-220 square meters, connected by naturally illuminated elevator halls. A distinguishing feature is the incorporation of shared gardens every third floor, measuring 6.9 meters in width, 7.2 meters in depth, and spanning three floors in height, creating communal spaces shared by six households. The project's innovative approach to cold-weather plant preservation employs physical root blocking measures instead of traditional chemical techniques, ensuring sustainable vegetation growth. This Bronze A' Design Award-winning project in the Architecture, Building and Structure Design category represents a significant advancement in ecological residential architecture, particularly notable for its successful implementation of sky gardens in northern China, setting new standards for sustainable urban living while enhancing the city's architectural landscape.
