Vadr Coffee Table

Vadr Coffee Table

Vadr Coffee Table is an innovative furniture piece that exemplifies contemporary design principles while drawing inspiration from Mid-Century Modern aesthetics. Created by industrial designer Jaimie Ota, this sophisticated coffee table is distinguished by its unique architectural elements, particularly its signature feature of diagonal bars across the front, reminiscent of piano keys, which doubles as a versatile storage solution and bookshelf. Crafted from plywood and assembled using wooden dowels and wood glue, the table demonstrates exceptional craftsmanship through its hidden joinery and thoughtful construction. The piece measures 1214mm in width, 610mm in depth, and stands at 457mm in height, making it particularly suitable for small living spaces. Its distinctive design incorporates strong linear angles and strategically positioned legs that ensure optimal stability while maintaining a forward-thinking aesthetic profile. The table's dual-sided accessibility and innovative storage system, featuring diagonal bars that provide partial coverage for stored items, exemplifies functional design excellence. This harmonious blend of form and function earned the design an Iron A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category in 2020, recognizing its contribution to contemporary furniture design through its practical innovation and creative execution. The table's construction process involved comprehensive development stages, from initial sketching to prototype modeling and final CAD-assisted production, resulting in a piece that successfully addresses both aesthetic and practical considerations in modern furniture design.
