V Transforming Accessory Glasses
v Transforming Accessory Glasses is an innovative multifunctional eyewear design that revolutionizes the traditional concept of glasses by incorporating transformative capabilities and aesthetic elements inspired by butterfly wings. Created by Korean designer Sung-Hyeon Yoo, this versatile accessory seamlessly transitions between different functional states through an ingenious magnetic mechanism. The design, which garnered the Silver A' Design Award in the Jewelry Design category, features a main structure based on a teeth hair clip system and incorporates real butterfly wings in its aesthetic composition. The frame is crafted from acetate material and employs neodymium magnets instead of conventional hinges, allowing the legs to be easily detached and stored. When transformed, the glasses can serve multiple purposes including a hair clip, bow tie, or decorative ornament. The design's dimensions measure 123 mm x 143 mm x 43.6mm with lens measurements of 88mm x 38mm. Its unique dual-butterfly aesthetic draws inspiration from both papillon and glass butterfly species, creating a distinctive visual identity. The innovative approach to addressing the common inconvenience of wearing glasses resulted in a sophisticated solution that maintains the production simplicity of traditional acetate frames while introducing revolutionary functionality. This design represents a significant advancement in accessible fashion technology, combining practical utility with artistic expression.
