Urban Sunshine Residential Apartment is an innovative residential interior design project that exemplifies contemporary urban living through thoughtful spatial optimization and minimalist design principles. The project, designed by Hua Shan Hung, represents a significant departure from conventional high-ceiling tiny apartment layouts by eliminating the traditional mezzanine structure to create an intuitive, open-plan living space. The interior is strategically divided into four distinct functional blocks: the living-dining room, kitchen, bedroom, and a versatile multifunctional room, interconnected through flexible translucent partitions rather than conventional walls. This approach maximizes natural light penetration and creates an enhanced sense of spaciousness. The design's sophisticated material palette includes warm earth tones, wood veneers, and rattan furnishings, complemented by a leather sofa that adds an urban chic element. The renovation particularly emphasizes the transformation of the terrace entrance into a semi-outdoor living space, effectively blending indoor and outdoor environments while incorporating practical storage solutions. Notable design elements include single-array wood flooring laminates that create an illusion of height, herringbone wood floor bricks at the terrace entrance for a retro-inspired aesthetic, and mauve drapery that harmonizes with the natural lighting scheme. The project, which won a Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, successfully addresses the challenges of modern urban living by reimagining a confined space into a bright, open, and functionally optimized home that enhances family connectivity while maintaining privacy through innovative spatial planning and thoughtful material selection.
