Urban Jungle Beauty Salon is an innovative interior design project that masterfully blends urban sophistication with biophilic elements, creating a unique second-floor beauty salon space spanning 132 square meters. Designed by Cheng Nan Chin and completed in November 2020, this distinctive salon environment seamlessly integrates natural elements with contemporary design principles to create a secluded urban retreat. The design's cornerstone features include a striking gabion wall entrance complemented by exposed steel bars, creating a dramatic contrast with the warm wood grain finishes and abundant greenery throughout the space. The salon's layout is thoughtfully organized around a T-shaped island seating area, with tool storage cabinets strategically positioned to optimize natural light and ensure client privacy. Notable design elements include suspended mirrors supported by minimal contact points, hanging light fixtures, and carefully curated plant installations that create an immersive jungle-inspired atmosphere. The space employs innovative solutions such as Lotos plaster for water resistance and durability, particularly crucial in Taiwan's humid climate. The design earned recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, acknowledging its exceptional approach to spatial organization and aesthetic innovation. The project's sophisticated use of materials, including wood grain surfaces, concrete elements, and strategic mirror placement, creates an expanded sense of space while maintaining functional efficiency for hairdressing services. The design successfully transforms a potentially challenging second-floor location into an advantageous feature, utilizing mirrors to create engaging visual effects and incorporating transparent elements to enhance spatial perception.
