Urban Canvas Facade Installation is an innovative architectural intervention that reimagines the traditional concept of building facades through a dynamic and adaptable design approach. Created by architects Hyunje Joo and Munhyung Lee, this temporary installation consists of 1,500 semi-transparent baskets arranged to form a flexible architectural boundary measuring 17 meters by 14 meters by 7 meters. The installation challenges conventional notions of architectural permanence by introducing a permeable membrane that mediates between interior and exterior spaces. Its distinctive design employs semi-transparent basket surfaces that minimize the separation between inside and outside environments, allowing light and silhouettes to penetrate and create ever-changing visual effects. The installation's innovative approach to facade design earned it the Silver A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building and Structure Design category, recognizing its contribution to architectural innovation. The project's temporal nature is integral to its concept, as the installation was designed to be dismantled and repurposed after two years, embodying principles of sustainability and adaptability in contemporary architecture. Through its sophisticated interplay of light, shadow, and transparency, the installation creates a constantly evolving visual experience that responds to environmental conditions and temporal changes.
