Unova Coworking Space is an innovative architectural transformation project that reimagines a former mall in Shenzhen into a dynamic, multi-floor coworking environment, designed by renowned Chinese architect Li Xiang. This 8,800-square-meter facility represents a paradigm shift in collaborative workspace design, elevating beyond conventional cost-effective shared offices to create a sophisticated, multi-functional environment that caters to diverse professional demographics. The space is strategically organized across four distinct levels, each serving a unique purpose: a welcoming lobby and reception area on the ground floor, a communal dining space on the second floor, youth-oriented workspaces on the third floor, and premium office areas for established businesses on the fourth floor. The design overcomes significant structural challenges through innovative solutions, including the creation of an atrium space to combat low ceiling heights and the implementation of interior windows to enhance spatial perception. Notable design elements include interactive wall installations in the dining area, playful office furniture incorporating fitness equipment, and themed workspace zones that reflect different user preferences. The project, which earned a Bronze A' Design Award in Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design, demonstrates exceptional spatial planning through its clear delineation of public and private areas, utilizing escalator-adjacent spaces as reception zones while maintaining privacy for focused work areas. The design successfully integrates elements of workplace wellness, incorporating various seating configurations and interactive features such as ball pools for brainstorming sessions, creating an environment that promotes both productivity and employee well-being.
