Unity Coffee table is an innovative furniture design that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of minimalist aesthetics and philosophical concepts, created by Iranian designer Saman Macvand. This sculptural piece, which earned the Silver A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category, features a distinctive circular composition constructed from ultra-light concrete pillars connected to a chrome ring. The table's design philosophy centers on the concept of truth and unity, reflected in its choice of materials and structural elements. The piece consists of three main components: five concrete pillars symbolizing honest individuals working in harmony, a unifying chrome ring, and a transparent glass top. The table's dimensions measure 1500 x 1500 x 350 millimeters, and its assembly is facilitated through an ingenious system of ten screws that allow for easy assembly and disassembly. The use of ultra-light concrete, a material chosen for its authenticity and ability to capture and expose pure detail, demonstrates significant technical innovation in furniture design. The transparent glass top serves both aesthetic and practical purposes, creating an illusion of expanded space while maintaining visibility of the structural elements beneath. This versatile piece, developed between June 2016 and July 2017 in Tehran, is suitable for both indoor and outdoor environments, with its lightweight construction enabling easy repositioning despite its substantial appearance. The circular design promotes fluid movement around the piece, while its minimalist approach strips away unnecessary complexities to focus on the essential elements of unity and truth in design.
