Unique Wood-themed Residence Residential House

Unique Wood-themed Residence Residential House

Unique Wood-themed Residence Residential House is an exemplary architectural and interior design project that showcases a harmonious blend of traditional Japanese aesthetics with contemporary spatial planning, completed in 2018 in Taoyuan City, Taiwan. This 413-square-meter residential masterpiece, designed by Te-Yu Liu and Hui-Ching Chang, demonstrates an innovative organic approach to spatial organization across three floors, with common areas centrally positioned and private spaces thoughtfully arranged on either side. The design's distinctive features include a vestibule adorned with wooden carvings and driftwood decorations, creating a solemn entrance that sets the tone for the entire residence. The interior spaces are characterized by their free-flowing nature, enhanced by dark faux antique marble flooring that extends through the living and dining areas, while unadorned wooden chairs replace traditional sofas to maintain a minimalist aesthetic. The Japanese influence is particularly evident in the tea room, where rich-colored wooden furnishings complement the teak flooring, traditional fireplace, and authentic window latticing. The master bedroom incorporates three distinct wood materials, balanced with grey walls and an ingeniously designed attic space. The kitchen area showcases an industrial-contemporary fusion with its grey countertops and walls, softened by wooden ceiling structures and a curved island design. This Silver A' Design Award-winning project in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category exemplifies excellence in spatial planning, material selection, and cultural integration, while maintaining a strong commitment to natural lighting through its three-sided window configuration and minimal artificial lighting requirements.
