Unbound Residential House is an innovative residential interior design project that exemplifies modern spatial planning through its distinctive approach to open-plan living. Located in Taoyuan City, Taiwan, this 99-square-meter residence, designed by Hsuan-Chih Chou and Wei Wen-Pei, revolutionizes traditional spatial boundaries through its axial division and seamless integration of public and private zones. The design philosophy centers on flexibility and spatial penetration, employing an open-concept layout that deliberately breaks conventional spatial constraints in the public areas while maintaining privacy in the rear sections. The sophisticated material palette combines modern black and white elements with cold-toned stainless steel and artificial stones, balanced by warm wood accents to create a harmonious living environment. Notable design features include a black linear panel TV wall with yellow drawers, a cleverly positioned stainless steel low partition, and marbled laminates with rhombic collaging. The public space ingeniously integrates three distinct functional areas - a living room, study room, and bar - each maintaining its independence while contributing to a cohesive whole. The bar area showcases contemporary design through its use of artificial stones and white railway bricks, while the bedroom features bright-skinned walls finished with architectural concrete for textural depth. This exceptional interior design project was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, recognizing its innovative approach to spatial design and material application.
