Twist House Private Residence
Twist House Private Residence is an innovative architectural masterpiece situated in an olive grove in Southwest Peloponnese, Greece, exemplifying a harmonious blend of contemporary design and environmental consciousness. This remarkable three-level residence, spanning 485 square meters, embodies the evolutionary journey of human dwelling, progressing from ground-level inhabitation to elevated living spaces. The structure's distinctive design philosophy manifests through its thoughtful vertical progression: a basement level carved into the earth, a ground floor constructed from recycled local stone, and a sophisticated upper level finished in plaster, creating a visual narrative of architectural evolution. The design demonstrates exceptional sensitivity to its natural surroundings, particularly in its preservation of existing olive trees and its strategic orientation towards the historic Methoni castle. The residence features 222 square meters of basement space housing recreational facilities, 160 square meters of ground floor area containing the main living spaces, and 103 square meters of first-level space dedicated to private quarters. Notable architectural elements include floor-to-ceiling windows that blur the boundaries between interior and exterior spaces, a seamless integration of indoor flooring extending to outdoor areas, and a 60-square-meter swimming pool. The project, which earned a Bronze A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building and Structure Design category, showcases innovative solutions for contemporary living while maintaining deep respect for the natural landscape. The design's most striking feature is its progressive revelation of space, from the observatory-like upper level offering panoramic views, to the ground floor's intimate connection with the landscape, culminating in the subterranean level that literally embeds inhabitants within the earth.
