Turquerie Womenswear Collection is an innovative fashion design project that masterfully blends Ottoman Empire aesthetics with contemporary fashion sensibilities, creating a sophisticated synthesis of historical and modern elements. This maximalist collection, comprising six distinct silhouettes and ten custom-made pieces, demonstrates exceptional craftsmanship through its meticulous use of luxury materials including jacquard, velvet, and chiffon, creating both chromatic and textural contrasts while maintaining clean, modern lines. The collection's design philosophy draws profound inspiration from the Ottoman Empire's cultural tolerance and artistic fusion, manifesting in a harmonious interaction between Byzantine, European, and Persian influences. Each piece showcases intricate hand-sewn details and traditional techniques, featuring elements such as a modern velvet jumpsuit, a classic velvet suit with mosque-inspired jacquard vest, and various sophisticated ensembles incorporating layered chiffon sleeves and ruffled details. The collection's dynamic nature is expressed through the thoughtful layering of fabrics with varying densities, opacities, and colors, while stylized sleeves create rhythmic movements through flounces and transparencies. Developed between September 2016 and June 2017 by designer Catalina Paladi, this collection earned recognition with a Silver A' Design Award in the Fashion, Apparel and Garment Design category, acknowledging its excellence in innovative material use, aesthetic appeal, and cultural relevance.
