Tsutsumu Business Card Holder

Tsutsumu Business Card Holder

Tsutsumu Business Card Holder is an innovative leather accessory that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of traditional Japanese craftsmanship with contemporary minimalist design principles. Drawing inspiration from the Japanese cultural practice of careful wrapping, particularly referencing furoshiki (wrapping cloth) and noshibukuro (money gift envelopes), this sophisticated card holder represents a masterful interpretation of origami techniques applied to leatherwork. Crafted from premium Italian Vachetta leather (Elbamatt, Tempesti, Toscana), the design achieves its distinctive form through precise folding techniques, eliminating the need for conventional fastening elements such as stitches, glue, or hardware. The holder's dimensions of 96mm width, 62mm depth, and 15mm height create an elegantly compact profile while maintaining practical functionality. A notable feature is the semicircular cutout beneath the cover, enabling intuitive card retrieval without visual guidance. The design's environmental consciousness is evident in its use of vegetable-tanned leather, ensuring both ecological sustainability and hypoallergenic properties. This innovative approach to leather craftsmanship earned recognition with a Silver A' Design Award in the Fashion and Travel Accessories Design category, acknowledging its exceptional combination of aesthetic refinement and functional innovation. The holder's symmetrical design and aging characteristics of the carefully selected leather ensure that it develops a rich patina over time, enhancing its aesthetic appeal while maintaining its practical utility.
