TROPICAL LIGHTHOUSE Vinyl Record

TROPICAL LIGHTHOUSE Vinyl record is an innovative packaging design project that exemplifies the intersection of visual aesthetics and musical experience through its distinctive dual-sided vinyl presentation. Created by Robert Bazaev, a multidisciplinary graphic designer from Vladikavkaz, this conceptual music compilation represents the fifteenth installment in a series characterized by its unique drop-shaped cover design and thoughtful integration of visual and auditory elements. The design, measuring 315 mm in width, 315 mm in depth, and 5 mm in height, features a striking duotone color scheme utilizing red and turquoise to create distinct emotional experiences on each side of the vinyl. Drawing inspiration from the rhythmic patterns and ambient sounds of tropical forests, particularly influenced by the musical compositions of artist Mtendere Mandowa, the design successfully translates these auditory experiences into visual form. The project employs colored vinyl and cardboard as primary materials, with digital printing techniques utilized for the package design. Despite technical challenges related to sound reproduction quality in colored vinyl production and increased manufacturing costs, the design maintains its artistic integrity while pushing the boundaries of conventional vinyl packaging. The project, completed in 2017, garnered international recognition by winning the Golden A' Design Award in the Packaging Design category, acknowledging its innovative approach to vinyl record packaging design. This achievement highlights the project's success in creating a cohesive relationship between musical content and visual presentation, while addressing the technical complexities of colored vinyl production.
