This groundbreaking installation, designed by Chih-Kang Chu and team, transforms conventional shopping carts into moving components that traverse elevated tracks throughout a 6600-square-meter exhibition space, effectively combining the familiar elements of retail environments with the excitement of amusement park attractions. The installation's sophisticated design incorporates two overlapping tracks where trolleys wind their way through the space, creating both visual interest and acoustic ambiance that evokes memories of supermarket experiences. Distinguished by its sustainable approach to materials and resources, the installation exemplifies circular design principles through its innovative use of borrowed trolleys and recyclable components, all of which were carefully planned for post-exhibition repurposing. The tracks, crafted by traditional glove puppetry stage cart technicians, demonstrate a unique fusion of cultural craftsmanship with contemporary design sensibilities.
