Trekronaa Tiny Cottage

Trekronaa Tiny Cottage

Trekronaa Tiny Cottage is an innovative architectural design that exemplifies the harmonious integration of compact living spaces with natural surroundings, situated amongst pine trees in Ogna, southwestern Norway. This 15-square-meter treehouse, designed by architect Manuela Hardy, draws inspiration from childhood memories of treetops and the organic form of pine cones, representing a sophisticated interpretation of traditional treehouse architecture. The structure is distinguished by its elevated position, supported by three tilted steel legs anchored to concrete foundations, creating an illusion of floating above the forest floor while minimizing environmental impact. The cottage's thoughtful design incorporates all essential living functions within its compact footprint, including a bathroom, kitchen, and sleeping accommodations for four to five people, demonstrating exceptional space optimization without compromising aesthetic appeal. The construction employs a combination of local materials and modern building techniques, featuring a wooden frame mounted on a steel chassis and clad with durable Accoya wood. The interior design maximizes natural light through strategic window placement, offering occupants immersive views of the surrounding pine forest and night sky while maintaining comfort and functionality. This architectural achievement, recognized with a Bronze A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building and Structure Design category in 2022, represents a significant innovation in sustainable micro-living solutions, combining practical functionality with poetic design elements that enhance the human connection to nature.
