Transparent Chair
Transparent Chair is an innovative furniture design that embodies the principles of Zen philosophy through its minimalist and ethereal aesthetic. Created by designers Wei Jingye and Li Yingyi, this contemporary seating solution masterfully combines Eastern philosophical concepts with advanced manufacturing technologies. The design features a distinctive transparent form crafted from frosted plexiglass, creating a delicate water-like appearance that enhances both its visual appeal and functional safety. The chair's dimensions of 900mm x 900mm x 850mm showcase a harmonious balance of proportions, while its rounded, smooth contours reflect the fundamental Zen concept that empty is there, not empty is not there. Utilizing cutting-edge 3D printing technology, the chair breaks free from traditional manufacturing constraints, enabling the creation of complex curved surfaces and seamless geometric forms. The circular base provides enhanced stability, while the ergonomic arc of the backrest ensures optimal comfort for users. This Silver A' Design Award-winning creation demonstrates exceptional innovation in furniture design through its unique combination of spiritual philosophy and modern production methods. The chair's hollow central section serves a dual purpose, offering practical storage while emphasizing the design's theme of emptiness and presence. Suitable for various environments, from meditation spaces to contemporary interiors, the Transparent Chair represents a significant advancement in furniture design, where functionality meets contemplative aesthetics. The design is part of a broader collection that includes a larger bench variant (2200mm x 820mm x 900mm) and a complementary coffee table, forming a cohesive series that exemplifies the intersection of Eastern philosophy and contemporary design principles.
