Toughness And Gentleness Residence

Toughness And Gentleness Residence

Toughness and Gentleness Residence is an award-winning residential interior design project completed in May 2020 in Hsinchu, Taiwan, encompassing 82.6 square meters of thoughtfully crafted living space. The design, conceived by Jia-Ru Chen and Te-Chih Lo, masterfully balances modern aesthetics with functional practicality through its sophisticated use of ink-like black, white, and grey color palette, enhanced by integrated warm-colored light strips, mirrored surfaces, and glass elements that create an expansive, uncompressed spatial experience. The residence features a seamless open-plan layout that intelligently connects various zones including the living room, bar, dining room, and study area, with subtle material and flooring transitions delineating different functional spaces. A notable architectural element is the television wall, constructed from a single piece of imported thin marble tile, exemplifying the project's commitment to both aesthetic refinement and environmental consciousness. The design incorporates eco-friendly materials such as Lotos plaster for corridor walls, demonstrating a strong commitment to sustainability without compromising luxury. The space is distinguished by its dual-circulation system between the living room and study, complemented by sliding cabinet doors that enhance functionality while catering to specific user habits. This residential project, which earned recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, represents a sophisticated interpretation of modern living that successfully merges dignified aesthetics with practical functionality, while maintaining a strong focus on environmental sustainability and user-centered design principles.
