Touch Washbasin

Touch Washbasin

Touch Washbasin is an innovative and aesthetically sophisticated dual-use sanitary fixture that revolutionizes traditional bathroom design through its sculptural form and functional elegance. Designed by Bulent Unal and Elif Gunes, this avant-garde washbasin seamlessly integrates semiotic principles with practical functionality, creating a meaningful dialogue between form and human connection. The design, which earned recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Bathroom Furniture and Sanitary Ware Design category, features flowing lines and organic curves that symbolize the intimate bond between two individuals. Crafted from Fine Fire Clay (FFC) ceramic and finished with a high-performance non-stick glaze, the washbasin measures 1250mm in length, 450mm in depth, and 150mm in height. Its distinctive design accommodates simultaneous use by two adults while maintaining an artistic presence that transcends mere utility. The integrated feet provide stable support, while the form's fluid dynamics complement water's natural flow characteristics. This design exemplifies the intersection of modernism, functionalism, and emotional resonance, challenging conventional bathroom fixture aesthetics while maintaining practical efficiency. The washbasin's conception emerged from a deep understanding of human connection and interaction, transforming a utilitarian object into a sculptural statement piece that speaks to both physical functionality and emotional resonance in contemporary interior design.
