Toshin PostPandemic Office
Toshin PostPandemic Office is an innovative interior design solution created in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, exemplifying adaptive architectural thinking for the post-pandemic workplace environment. The distinguished space, designed by Tetsuya Matsumoto and team in 2020, features a distinctive lightning-shaped counter that serves as both a functional and protective element, effectively dividing the 133-square-meter area into separate staff and guest zones. The design's most notable feature is its sophisticated protective system, comprising alternating glass panels arranged in two parallel lines with a 20-centimeter separation, creating an effective barrier against droplet transmission while maintaining operational efficiency and document circulation. The aesthetic integration of safety measures is achieved through the thoughtful use of materials, including antiviral melamine veneer for high-contact surfaces and a harmonious combination of white and black veneer finishes. The space incorporates multiple functional zones, including a reception area with a high counter, four consultation tables, and an advanced video conferencing setup enhanced with projection capabilities. This groundbreaking design, which garnered a Golden A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, demonstrates exceptional innovation in addressing contemporary workplace challenges while maintaining aesthetic excellence. The project's swift execution, completed between August and October 2020, showcases the designer's ability to rapidly respond to emerging social needs while creating a lasting architectural solution that transcends temporary pandemic measures, establishing new standards for safe yet aesthetically pleasing commercial interiors.
