Torochi Rack

Torochi Rack

Torochi Rack is an innovative furniture design piece that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of geometric principles, natural elements, and functional storage solutions. Created by architects Romulo Teixeira and Cintia Miyahira, this television rack features a distinctive parallelogram shape and incorporates a sophisticated combination of materials including carbon steel, wood, and acrylic components. The design's foundation consists of a white carbon steel base with a 10mm diameter bar construction, featuring graphic tree-like patterns that create a visually lightweight appearance. The main storage unit, crafted with meticulous attention to detail, comprises a wooden box with 30mm thick base and 18mm thick sides, enhanced by a varnished finish. The rack's unique container sheet serves as both a structural and aesthetic element, while three hanging slots with colored acrylic tops (5mm thickness) provide dedicated spaces for storing entertainment accessories, documents, and personal items. Measuring 1400mm in width, 350mm in depth, and 500mm in height, the Torochi Rack demonstrates exceptional space optimization and visual appeal. The design, which earned a Bronze A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category, showcases an innovative approach to contemporary furniture design through its integration of mathematical precision, natural inspiration, and practical functionality. The piece's industrial-modern aesthetic is achieved through the thoughtful contrast between the clean white surfaces, warm wooden elements, and playful colored acrylic components, making it a versatile addition to contemporary living spaces.
