Tokyo Restaurant is an award-winning interior design project that exemplifies the fusion of Japanese minimalist philosophy with contemporary spatial design, realized within a historical building in Moscow's city center. The establishment's design philosophy draws heavily from Wabi-Sabi principles, incorporating natural materials such as concrete, wood, and brick to create a harmonious environment that transforms dramatically from day to night through innovative lighting installations. Designed by Valery Lizunov and team, the 140-square-meter space features distinctive artistic elements, including wall installations of samurai faces crafted from sticks, rice grain motifs, and Japanese carp fish designs that become visible through carefully orchestrated LED lighting. The restaurant's interior demonstrates exceptional attention to detail, featuring custom-designed elements such as a signature veneer shrimp lamp and specialized salt brick installations. A notable 10-square-meter VIP room showcases unique painted walls depicting Sakura, vases, and contemplative figures, creating an intimate dining atmosphere. The design successfully overcomes the challenges of working within a historical structure, particularly in preserving the building's unique arches while integrating modern engineering solutions. The space transitions effectively from a democratic daytime dining venue to a sophisticated evening destination, earning recognition with a Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category for its innovative approach to spatial design, material selection, and lighting implementation.
