TOKIMEITE Restaurant is an award-winning contemporary Japanese dining establishment located in London's Mayfair district, distinguished by its innovative architectural design that harmoniously integrates traditional Japanese cultural elements with modern spatial concepts. The restaurant's design, conceived by principal designer Yasumichi Morita and completed in 2015, spans three distinct dining spaces across 212 square meters, each embodying a specific thematic element: En (flame), Mizu (water), and Moku (wood). The architectural concept draws profound inspiration from Japanese Matsuri festivals, incorporating elements that symbolize gratitude for harvest and seasonal appreciation. The spatial arrangement overcomes significant structural challenges within a narrow 6-meter-wide building through ingenious space planning, including the strategic relocation of the main staircase to create a more cohesive ground floor experience. The interior features sophisticated design elements such as decorative lighting crowned with gold embellishments reminiscent of Japanese shrines and temples, intricate timber latticework enhanced by gold mirrors, and a thoughtfully designed show kitchen that serves as a theatrical centerpiece. The restaurant's design excellence was recognized with an Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category in 2016, acknowledging its exceptional integration of functional layout, cultural relevance, and innovative use of space. The establishment accommodates 74 seats across its three floors, with each level offering a unique dining atmosphere that reflects the careful consideration of materials, lighting, and spatial flow to create an authentic Japanese dining experience.
