Time Of The Family Residence
Time of the Family Residence is an award-winning residential interior design project completed in February 2016 in Hsinchu County, Taiwan, that exemplifies a harmonious integration of environmental preservation, intelligent technology, and family-centered living spaces. The 229-square-meter residence, designed by Ming-Yi Wang, demonstrates a sophisticated approach to contemporary living through its thoughtful incorporation of natural elements and innovative architectural solutions. The design philosophy prioritizes the experience of natural phenomena, including wind flow, daylight penetration, and seasonal variations, while maintaining a modest aesthetic that eschews ostentation. Notable features include an automatically controlled garden system that promotes both luxury and sustainability, strategically placed recess windows in the main bedroom that create artistic light patterns, and an advanced intake and exhaust ventilation system that minimizes cooking smoke impact. The project's material palette incorporates wood-grain stones and slate elements that seamlessly transition from exterior to interior spaces, while the innovative wall treatments behind the couch combine rough textures with laminate insertions to enhance acoustic properties and thermal regulation. The design deliberately replaces traditional television-centric layouts with dedicated reading and music appreciation spaces, fostering meaningful family interactions. This Bronze A' Design Award-winning project in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category stands out for its meticulous attention to environmental control, family wellness, and sustainable living practices, while successfully balancing technological innovation with natural elements to create a comfortable, maintenance-efficient living environment that promotes family intimacy and environmental consciousness.
