Time In A Circle Residence

Time In A Circle Residence

Time in a Circle Residence is an innovative residential interior design project completed in 2018, situated in Taichung City, encompassing 180 square meters of circular-shaped space that masterfully blends boutique hotel aesthetics with functional family living. The design, which earned recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, represents a sophisticated interpretation of circular architecture, symbolizing harmony and completeness in Oriental philosophy. Created by designers Li-Hsu Tsai and Morse Wang, the residence features a thoughtfully divided layout that separates public reception areas from private family spaces through the strategic use of dark glass doors and modern geometric elements. The interior showcases an exquisite material palette, including various types of marble - Angora Pearl for the living room's grandeur, Carrara White for the minimalist kitchen, and dark grey marble for the bathing spaces - complemented by wooden floors, veneer, and gloss paint finishes. The design's circulation pattern creates a flowing connection between the living room, reading area, kitchen, and dining room, facilitating family interaction while maintaining a sophisticated hotel-like ambiance. The project's architectural challenges, particularly in managing the curtain wall windows and complex partitioning requirements, were overcome through innovative technical solutions that preserve natural light and views while ensuring privacy. The space features distinctive round columns and void partitions that not only address structural elements but also incorporate practical storage solutions while maintaining the circular theme's aesthetic integrity. The design successfully creates multiple pathways to outdoor terraces, establishing a seamless indoor-outdoor connection that enhances the living experience while providing rich vistas and natural illumination throughout the space.
