Tiles Weight Scale Design Measure Body Weight

Tiles Weight Scale Design Measure Body Weight is an innovative bathroom weighing scale that reimagines the traditional electronic weight measurement device by incorporating the aesthetic and tactile qualities of bathroom floor tiles. Designed by Zhang Jian, Huang Yikai, and Chen Sijie, this groundbreaking home appliance seamlessly integrates into the bathroom environment through its distinctive tile-like form factor, measuring 315.5 x 315.5 x 21.5 millimeters. The design philosophy centers on creating a harmonious user experience by leveraging the familiar sensation of cold tile surfaces against bare feet, characteristic of bathroom environments. The device employs a sophisticated three-part system comprising a load-bearing mechanism, force transfer system utilizing load cells, and an electronic display instrument for accurate weight measurement. This thoughtful approach to design transforms the often anxiety-inducing act of weight measurement into a more natural, integrated part of the bathroom routine. The project, developed between November 2019 and January 2020 in Guangzhou, demonstrates exceptional attention to user interaction and environmental context, earning recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Home Appliances Design category. The design's success lies in its ability to combine functional precision with experiential considerations, creating an appliance that not only serves its primary purpose of weight measurement but also enhances the overall bathroom experience through its materiality and form.
