Tianjin Insun Lotte Cinema Cinema

Tianjin Insun Lotte Cinema Cinema is an innovative children's cinema complex located in the Cultural District of Tianjin, China, completed in February 2013, spanning an impressive 4,500 square meters. This groundbreaking interior design project, created by acclaimed designers Ajax Law and Virginia Lung, revolutionizes the traditional cinema experience by incorporating a unique 'animal athlete meet' theme that celebrates cultural collaboration between China and South Korea. The design masterfully integrates vibrant three-dimensional tracks in aquamarine, blue, lime green, yellow, and purple throughout the space, creating an immersive environment where animated animal figures participate in a playful sporting event. The entrance lobby features minimalist white walls punctuated by sculptural sheep and ostrich figures equipped with movie trailer displays, while the ticket counter area showcases large-scale cutouts of various animals including bears, rhinoceroses, elephants, and dinosaurs serving as functional ticket booths. The corridor leading to the theaters transforms into a dynamic 'field' where the design theme reaches its crescendo, with fox and baboon-shaped seating elements and wall-mounted racing animals maintaining the energetic atmosphere. The interior employs a sophisticated material palette including carpet, quartz stone, acoustic panels, and plastic laminate, while the theaters themselves offer a more subdued environment with carefully coordinated chromatic elements and geometric patterns. This winner of the Golden A' Design Award in Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design demonstrates exceptional innovation in creating a child-focused entertainment space that successfully balances playful creativity with functional cinema requirements.
